LASER SAFETY INSERVICE PRESENTATIONS
As the Laser Safety Officer
(LSO) or department manager, you're required by ANSI to provide documented Laser
Safety training for ALL Peri-operative employees. Here is some material
that can help - either the Laser Safety Powerpoint shows that you can present
yourself, or our Laser Safety Inservice Video you can just plug in and play.
(Look below on this page) If your staff then opts to take the Laser Video
post-test (using either the powerpoint presentation or the video) and return it to us, we can provide Certificates of Laser Training
that are accredited up to 1.0 contact hour. Otherwise you'll just keep your
in-service sign-in sheet as your documentation of training.
OTHER LASER SAFETY
TRAINING OPTIONS.
We do sell interactive
Laser Safety programs on CD-ROM,
as do other organizations, but these are individual programs that each person
must sit down to complete. The advantage of this is that the material content is
much more in-depth and provides a greater number of accredited contact hours.
The disadvantage is that it's difficult to use this as a general in-service tool
for the staff. We recommend using the Laser Safety Inservice video or powerpoint
show material for your routine and annual inservices, and offer the interactive
programs with more credits as options to those who are interested, or for your
Laser Safety Officer. In-House Laser Safety
training can also be provided on-site to your own facility and we can
include hands-on work with your own equipment.

LASER SAFETY
POWERPOINT PRESENTATIONS ON ONE CD: $125 Plus $15 shipping and handling.
Call 800-435-3131 to order. PRESENT THIS INSERVICE YOURSELF.
This Laser Safety
Inservice is oriented toward hospitals, surgical centers and medical/surgical
clinics. Two versions of the powerpoint show are included on the CD. One is 45
slides and the other 71 slides. Each meets all the
requirements for teaching Laser Safety to staff as recommended by ANSI 136.3
(American National Standards Institute) Recommendations for safe use of Lasers
in Health Care facilities. This includes basic laser and energy concepts
including different types of lasers and wavelength effects to eye and skin,
basic energy concepts, tissue interaction, and safety practices including
detailed discussion on laser eye and skin burn hazards. Prompt slides are
included at strategic locations throughout the presentations to discuss the
specific safety policies of your own facility. The shorter version is a safety
orientation meant for general staff and can be presented in 15-30 minutes. The
longer version is a safety presentation that can be delivered in 30-50 minutes
and is meant for the laser operators and those working more often in the laser
environment. Those choosing to have attendees take the Laser Video post test
and return it for a certificate and credits should give the longer
presentation prior to the test.

LASER SAFETY INSERVICE
VIDEO: (Not yet available) $325 plus $15 shipping and handling.
Call 800-435-3131 to order. JUST PLUG IN THE VIDEO AND PLAY FOR THE GROUP.
This VHS video makes it practical to offer routine Laser Safety training for
new employee orientation and periodically to staff, without requiring one of
your own staff to give the powerpoint lectures, and it's much more
practical than the individual interactive CD's that can't be done in a group
setting. This Safety Inservice is oriented toward hospitals, surgical centers
and medical/surgical clinics. The program is produced and narrated by Gregory Absten, Laser Safety
Representative on the Board of Directors for the American Society of Laser
Medicine & Surgery, and the Executive Director of our nonprofit Medical
Education Group. Schedule the video showing for your staff, have them all sign
your attendance sheet, and you've met the ANSI 136.3 requirements for laser
safety training - that EASY! If you want them to receive 1.0 nursing contact
hours and a Certificate of Laser Training from us, just have them complete and
return the Laser Safety Video post test found on the TESTS page of our
website. It includes the same content as the Powerpoint Shows listed above,
but with animated content and narration, plus editorial remarks. Short video
clip inserts of laser effects and procedures graphically make the point better
than the photos in the powerpoint.
We can also provide
On-Site Laser Safety Training programs,
including hands-on work with your own laser equipment.
