This three day workshop is oriented toward non-dermatology physicians, nurses, aestheticians and technicians offering simple cosmetic laser and light based procedures. It is especially helpful to complete prior to investing in Laser or IPL devices, since it is an unbiased independent course from a nonprofit organization. Both didactic and hands-on breakout sessions teach patient selection and care, and the proper use of this instrumentation on different skin types. The program will cover the common cosmetic office procedures and technology, and use of the primary aesthetic lasers including Diode, Alexandrite, Ruby, Nd:Yag, Pulsed Dye, and KTP lasers, and various Intense Pulsed Light devices. The program includes all of the Basic Laser Science and Safety. Procedures utilizing these devices are discussed at length for tattoo and pigmented lesion removal, treatment of red vascular lesions, general skin rejuvenation including acne and dyschromia, laser hair removal, and a discussion of resurfacing techniques including ablations and fractional resurfacing. The course is an excellent primer program for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery residents. Alumni are eligible to register for clinical preceptorships with Dr. Diane Wong's office in Toronto Canada following the course if additional clinical practice is desired. If you want to train the rest of your staff when you return, we'll also offer deep discounts on our accredited Computer Based Learning programs that your staff can complete online.
This course is NOT limited to just one Laser company - we give you a broad foundation on all of them. We discuss both new and used equipment in the program. Our nonprofit foundation has conducted laser training for almost 30 years! This program covers all the types of lasers, the majority of aesthetic laser & light applications, and includes introductory hands-on demonstrations with representative types of lasers. This allows you to make informed judgments about equipment and which procedures to begin with. Subsequent "inservice" type training by the salespeople on a unit you then buy becomes very easy and gives you a solid knowledge base that you can't get with sales inservices alone. Your best scenario is to take this course before you commit to buying equipment, but it's still very worthwhile after you’re offering procedures, including gaining the Certificates.
This is a very practical course to get started in this field. Applicable to Physicians, Nurses, Aestheticians and Technicians. The recommended course hotel(s) is listed below.
