Texas State Laser Hair Removal Requirements - June
2009 -
HB 449 (Opens as PDF file) passes Tx legislature, and is signed by Governor.

requires 24 hours of academic training to get started as an Apprentice in
Training, and divides hair removal providers into four levels - 1. Apprentice in
Training 2. Technician 3. Senior Technician 4. Certified Laser Hair Removal
Professional.
Requires National Certification for highest level of provider (See
www.LaserCertification.org) It specifically states that Laser Hair Removal
is NOT the practice of medicine.
Aug-Sep 2009 Update: -
The new law must be administered by the Dept. of State Health Services. They
have proposed a RULE to administer this law, and are soliciting comments until
Oct 1, 2009 on this RULE.
