STATE LICENSING & REGULATORY AGENCIES If you're new to this, you should first read the article on Licensing and Credentialing on this website, and then return here to obtain contact information in order to research it in your own state. If you are trying to determine what the regulations are in your State for licensing or regulation of medical laser procedures, including Aesthetic and Laser Hair Removal Procedures, you'll have to do some investigation and research on your own. Each State is different. These contacts should help. Each State's Medical Board determines who can perform what procedures and whether it's under the direct supervision of a physician or not. Sometimes it's hard to get answers from these groups, especially if there are no regulations in that state, so you have to be persistent. Even though it's not a legal requirement we suggest you obtain a professional credential of Laser Certification in your field of endeavor to help establish your professional credibility. The following agencies are listed by State to help you with contacts in your research. The State Medical Boards are the ultimate answer, but sometimes there is useful information with the nursing, cosmetic and electrology boards.
