THE WORLD'S
PREMIER LASER REPAIR COURSE
- THE PREMIER COURSE FOR GENERAL LASER MAINTENANCE & REPAIR
SINCE 1984 -
We've done this now for over 25 years. Attendees have included
biomedical engineers from most major Hospitals and Universities in the
U.S., technicians from all of the national third party laser service
groups, and international engineers from all over the globe.
- COURSE LECTURES NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE - Use them for your
entire department, or cut your travel time by two days if you take them
yourself prior to class.
- ADVANCED LASER REPAIR TRAINING - Now available EXCLUSIVELY to
our Laser Repair Course Graduates. These 1-2 day shorter courses that go
beyond preventive maintenance and front-line repairs are specific to
your own equipment and conducted in your own facility, South Florida, or
Southern California (depends on the equipment). You must be an alumni of
our Basic Laser Repair Course to first qualify. Covers all Candela
Models, most current Lumenis models and a variety of aesthetic laser
systems. Approximately $2500 & travel per laser model, but can vary.
Herb Deigl and Jim McDaniel - Advanced Laser Training Faculty.
- PARTS SOURCING - While we can't guarantee 100% availability
of all parts without going through the manufacturer, once you're part of
this course you'll interface with our Laser Service Alliance and Course
Faculty for laser parts sourcing at prices generally significantly lower
than manufacturer retail pricing.
- LASER SERVICE BACKUP - Everyone needs help from time to time.
Our faculty will be available to back you up for on-site service if you
need it, at discounted fees compared to the manufacturer.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Our seven day school is designed to teach hands-on procedures (alignments,
calibrations, optics assembly & cleaning, etc.) to the electronically
experienced biomedical engineer. The first three days of the program focuses on
the CORE laser & optical components and subassemblies that are common to all
laser systems. This allows the engineer to provide the periodic maintenance on
ALL of their hospital laser systems, and provide front line service repair on
most. This is accomplished through extensive hands-on work with CO2, argon and
Nd:Yag laser systems which are representative of the majority of subassemblies
in ALL lasers. The last four days of the program delve into more depth with some
specific laser systems, and spends more time with ophthalmic laser systems
including the slit lamps and adjustments. Specific procedures on the KTP and
pulsed dye lasers are reviewed and practiced. Specific procedures on additional
models of lasers will also be performed, and these additional models will rotate
and change from course to course. The weeklong program will cover theory on
laser biophysics, more advanced laser physics and laser electro-optics, and
biological effects and surgical techniques which are all included on various
sections of the NCLE laser certification exam. An adequate faculty to student
ratio is always maintained by expanding faculty based upon course registration
to keep it approximately 4 students average per faculty.
Most classes average 8-12 students.
| This is a comprehensive program on
Laser Repair. It starts at the beginning and sets the foundation for learning laser optics
and subassemblies in most systems, and teaches "bread and butter" alignments,
PM's and troubleshooting on the "mainstay" lasers. It then focuses on more specific types of lasers and more
in-depth procedures on ophthalmic lasers and systems such Pulsed Dye and KTP lasers.
The course emphasizes "hands-on" with LOTS of touching and doing, and works
toward developing an underlying understanding of lasers and maintenance
procedures, rather than rote rule memorization. |

LASERS: Skills
learned in this course may be applied to periodic maintenance / repairs on:
Carbon Dioxide,
Nd:Yag, Argon, Krypton, Q-switched Nd:Yag, Ho:Yag, Alexandrite, Ruby, KTP,
Pulsed Dye including
COHERENT, SHARPLAN, HERAEUS LASERSONICS, SURGILASE, MBB, LASERSCOPE, COOPER, ZEISS, BRITT,
HGM, TRIMEDYNE, MERRIMACK, LASER ENGINEERING, LUXAR, CANDELLA, CONTINUUM, NIIC, SUNRISE, DORNIER,
XINTEC, AMO, MEDITEC, IL MED, MIRA, NIDEK, MIRA, SLT, MEDICAL ENERGY, and others. Service
procedures on most laser systems are similar to identical from manufacturer to
manufacturer.
Manufacturer's Schools: This
program also serves as an excellent primer in preparation for attending manufacturer's
schools on specific models of lasers. You'll get MUCH more out of the manufacturer's
program after attending this program, including the fact that we teach user mistakes and
errors (surgeons & nurses) vs. technical problems, which no manufacturer provides.
Manufacturer's provide good schools on specific models, but if you have to work on
multiple types or models of lasers it gets quite cost and time prohibitive to cover them
all. This program provides front line level repair and troubleshooting on almost ALL of
your laser systems, and more in-depth repairs on several specific types. If you
want to go beyond regular PM's and front line repairs you can attend the
manufacturer schools, or enroll for our Advanced Laser Classes available only to
graduations of the Basic Laser Repair program.

LASER CERTIFICATION :
We are Members
of the nonprofit National Council for Laser Excellence, which has formed a
cross-industry Board for the purpose of establishing voluntary Certification
Criteria for Laser Service Engineers - similar to the Biomedical Certifications.
Requirements include both experience and testing requirements. The proctored,
standardized test from the National Council will be made available immediately
following this 6 day course, and we will prepay the required test fee on behalf
of our course registrants from the registration fee - no
additional cost to the student. Upon successful completion of the test, and upon
meeting the other Council requirements such as experience, engineers may submit
their application to the Council for approval as an NCLE
Laser Certified
Engineer. Click on the link for more information on the National
Council for Laser Excellence (NCLE). The NCLE also provides certification
for Laser Operators and Safety Officers.
